It is important that you discuss with the surgeon how you would
like your breasts to look following the PIP replacement. Patients with sufficient physical and
emotional maturity who undergo breast surgery are usually very satisfied with the
outcome.
Breast Surgery is a very individualized procedure.
At your initial consultation, the surgeon will examine your breasts
and will discuss your goals for the surgery. He will consider such
factors as any damage which may have occured with the PIP Implant, the risks involved in replacing the PIP Implant, the size and shape of your breasts pre and post operation, the quality of your
skin and the placement of your nipples and areolas (the pigmented
skin surrounding the nipples). If your breasts are sagging, a breast
lift may be recommended in conjunction with further augmentation.
Your surgeon will discuss
your medical history and will check for medical conditions that could cause problems during or after surgery. He will explain the techniques and anesthesia and any risks involved, and will answer any questions you may have, especially those
regarding your expectations and concerns about the results.
For surgery you need to stay for 48 hours in the clinic which gives time for your recovery and
primary post-operative care before returning home.
For most patients, our surgeons recommend McGhan silicone
cohesive gel implants, widely acknowledged as giving some of the
best results. Although they are one of the most expensive Implants,
they are included in the fixed cost for surgery.
Getting back to normal……..
There isn't usually significant discomfort after surgery
and you should be up and about in a day, but plan on taking it easy
at first. Your surgeon will give you more specific guidelines for
gradually resuming your normal activities but above all, get plenty
of rest and allow your body to spend its energy on healing. Most
patients can resume work just a few days after surgery.
